Detroit HealthLink for Equity in Cancer Care recently received a $99,000+ Health Education and Community Benefit Grant from the DMC Foundation/Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to extend the HealthLink Model to Arab American communities in partnership with ACCESS in Dearborn  MI.  ACCESS will host a Cancer Action Council (CAC) that will meet monthly and work with staff from ACCESS and Karmanos Cancer Institute to identify cancer-related research priorities.  The CAC will then collaborate with Karmanos researchers to move research ideas forward.

In total, Detroit HealthLink is recruiting members for three new CACs located at…

  1. ACCESS, focusing on cancer issues in Arab American communities in Dearborn
  2. LGBT Detroit, focusing on cancer issues in LGBT communities of color; and
  3. Karmanos Cancer Institute, focusing on Cancer, Communities, and Technology.
